Rollerblading gave many of us direction growing up — confidence, community, and a place to belong. Today, those opportunities are harder to access. SPTjam exists to remove those barriers — giving young people a clear and supportive pathway into rollerblading, from learning to progressing, to competing.

Meet the SPTjam Family
Mike and Rhys have been close friends for many years, sharing a passion for rollerblading that has taken them around the world. Having spent years travelling, skating and experiencing the international rollerblading community together, they are now using the knowledge, skills and experience gained along the way to inspire and support future generations.
Through SPTjam CIC, they are committed to passing on their experience, creating opportunities for young people and making action sports more accessible to everyone. From international rollerblading events and the SPTjam Skate School to their ambition of establishing a permanent Community Action Sports Hub in Southport, their focus remains on building a stronger, more inclusive skating community for generations to come.

From everything we’ve seen and heard, what Mike is building for the UK skating scene is nothing short of inspiring. I couldn’t be happier with my daughter’s experience with SPTjam! (Maisie Edwards). The coaches are incredibly patient, and genuinely passionate about helping skaters grow, I honestly didn’t expect Maisie to fall in love with skating the way she has. When she first joined, she was nervous and unsure of herself, but Rhys has helped changed that, —he’s someone who genuinely cares about the kids progress and gives them confidence, in a calm, encouraging way of teaching that makes even the toughest moves feel achievable. He notices the little things and gives feedback that helps them improve without making them feel discouraged.
The sessions are well-structured, fun, and tailored to individual progress. Every session feels like she takes a step forward and always leaves feeling proud of herself. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and it’s clear that everyone there—from the staff to the other skaters—shares the same passion and respect for the sport.

I can’t recommend SPTjam Skate School enough!
My daughter was really struggling to find a pair of boots that fitted her properly, but Mikey went above and beyond to sort her out.
He found the perfect pair for her, and she absolutely loves them now!
On top of that, her lesson with Rhys was nothing short of amazing. Within just 30 minutes of skating with him, he had her dropping into ramps all on her own! Her confidence has skyrocketed, and we are both so grateful to Mikey and Rhys for their expertise and brilliant encouragement.

I have 2 boys with autism and adhd and they have just started attending the skate school here for a few weeks now, so far we have had a great experience, we have found the team very knowledgeable, patient, attentive, supportive, very friendly and engaging, offer advice and support and eager to teach at the persons level, they work with the kids giving individual support and teach and show tricks and guidance, they take their time to help them achieve their goals without pressure or feeling rushed, very very happy we found these guys, couldn’t ask for better.
I am also getting advise on new skates for Connor, I feel the team really like to go out of their way to help you, nothing is too big an ask, my boys are already feeling much more confident and making friends too, I think this is very much down to the supportive environment SPT JAM creates, these guys are brilliant.

Me, my partner and stepdaughter attended the recent SPTJAM and weve got to say it was awesome! Its great that this type of event is still going as my stepdaughter loves skating and she got so excited and motivated seeing all the other skaters even to the point she actually put herself forward to do the kids competition! This is something she would absolutely not usually do but again seeing all the other skaters really encouraged her to do this. The atmosphere was so friendly and great throughout the whole 3 days, it was also brilliant to see the amount of kids that are getting into skating again, which i know is the main goal of SPTJAM CIC! I would definitely recommend attending one of their events if you love skating and/or their skate school if youre looking at getting into skating yourself, Mikey and Rhys are awesome teachers!

Thank you guys so much. Thursdays are now the best day of the week, and the kids are all progressing and growing confidence with each lesson. The lads teaching them are spot on, the kids have so much fun with them. Great atmosphere all round.
